LG Display unveiled thinnest TV OLED

LG Display unveiled a new, ultra-thin television screen that is less than one millimeter thick in its home country, Korea. The 55-inch display is about as thin as a DVD and weighs less than a 13-inch MacBook Pro, which is 4.5 pounds, or 2 kilograms.

It is only .97 mm thick and it weighs 1.9 kilograms. Instead of a traditional wall mount, the screen sticks onto a magnetic mat which is applied to the wall.

OLED displays are made from sheets of organic (carbon-based) materials which emit their own light. The OLED technology will most likely be realized within wearables, digital cameras, smartwatches, tablets and mobile devices. this latest innovation comes just a few months after LG’s first 4K OLEDs debuted during CES in Las Vegas.
