Earthquake Los Angeles Reported With M3.8

Earthquake hit Los Angeles on Sunday morning. No injuries or damage was reported.
According to the U.S. Geological Survey the quake struck at about 4:07 a.m. about one mile east southeast of Baldwin Hills and had a depth of about 6 miles. The shake was preceded and followed by four smaller trembles, ranging from 1.6-2.7. The earthquakes struck at a depth of eight to nine miles.
Los Angeles firefighters assessed more than 470 square miles of Los Angeles and found no damage or injuries. The quake, which struck at a depth of 5.6 miles, was classified by the USGS as “light”. Though, it was still felt over a wide area of the LA basin.
“This one, this morning, it’s in the same general area. It’s in the greater fault zone, but it’s showing a different type of stress. There’s a less than 10 percent chance of a large aftershock from an earthquake of this size,” said USGS seismologist Valerie Thomas.
