Miguel Cotto to face former unified 160-pound titlist Daniel Geale whichtakes place at Madison Square Garden; it will be broadcast on HBO at 10:30 p.m. ET/PT.
Cotto, 34, is middleweight, and with Geale (31-3, 16 KO) a legitimate 160-pound fighter who doesn’t have issues walking as far as we know, this fight might be a bit more of a challenge than some are expecting. Cotto (39-4, 32 knockouts) impressively stopped longtime middleweight ruler Sergio Martinez last June.
Geale (31-3, 16 KOs) is no stranger to fighting and winning on the road.
Geale said: “I’m going to have to go out there and be very convincing, because I’ll have everything up against me.”
“I have a personal problem with catch weights. We accepted the catch weight of 157 and I’m not here to complain about the catchweight,” Gary Shaw, Geale’s promoter, said.
