Cambridge top private school publishing free online textbooks

Cambridge leading private school is publishing textbooks for IGCSE biology in England. The Stephen Perse Foundation is publishing digital textbooks which are available to download free online. This school has put dozens of its courses online for free which is the largest teaching resources release of its type outside the USA.
All courses resources are being made available on Apple’s iBooks online store. Students and teachers can use on iPad tablet computers from Apple’s iBooks. The resource will be available for download worldwide. The textbooks include a course taken by 500,000 students in 160 countries.
principal Tricia Kelleher said: “Schools and pupils are hungry for such digital resources.”
The “ability to make instant updates is invaluable. No more need to re-print or wait for a new edition”said textbooks author Alex van Dijk.
The school was originally founded in 1881 as The Perse School for Girls. Its first Headmistress was Miss Street. The name of Dr Stephen Perse, a fellow of Gonville and Caius College, Cambridge has always been associated with the school.
